She's great! I really think she is a fair teacher. I feel like I learned the most Chinese from her courses. She's always at her office hours and will help out anyone who seeks her help. Her courses are also organized well.

She is a good professor. She will help you if you seek it. Fair grading policy. Plus, this is the most relaxed class (along with 412L) because you get more time to learn the grammer.

Teng is a great professor...if you ever need help with tones, vocab, grammar...she'll help you out during office hours...and she does it individually, so you dont feel stupid about asking questions or saying the words in the wrong tone...she seems intimadating, but she's really a nice lady...everyday there's always something to turn in or do in class... Mondays- Reading chinese text outloud. Tuesdays- Homework Due. Wednesdays- Exam day. Thursdays- Grammar. Fridays- Vocab Test. That's a typical week in 507..it's not really a blow off class if you dont know chinese...it's easy, but tedious..so you still do need to put in effort.

I also took her CHI 612 class and I decided to take her again because she is great. Her grading is extremely fair and she does a lot of additional work (guides) to help us out. She is a little hard-core at the beginning but if you stick around, you'll find that she is dedicated to the students and will help you anyway you can. The one thing I remember particularly was when she sent us a message that we should wear jackets and be warm because of the cold weather at that time. The lectures can be tedious, but if you're prepared, then it could be interesting.
