Review from a student who took E 318 L
Marcela is one of the best teachers I've had this year. I've never had a writing teacher like her before, and she is incredibly enthusiastic about creative writing, teaching, and her students. She isn't overbearingly excited, but excited in a more relaxed sense. She offers great criticism and keeps your confidence by showing you the things you did good, as well. In 318L we workshopped a-poem-a-person per week. Things usually ran smoothly, and the class becomes like a group of good friends, not just classmates. the workload was not very strenuous, written evaluation of each classmate's poems every Tues and Thurs, a lit journal report/review, and a final portfolio with draft/peer comments/final draft/and commentary + explanation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TEACHER!!!!!!!
