John is an excellent German instructor. His experience with living in a German-speaking country is invaluable to the learning experience. When he speaks German, he sounds like a native speaker, and his mastery of the language is at least the same level, if not higher.

John's class is somewhat boring, and was the least exciting of the three I have taken at UT. There does seem to be a bit more work assigned than other intro german classes, and John does seem to be less willing to cut any slack regarding grades.
