this is an extremely easy class. prof reifel doesn't teach this class however. his assistant instructor, debora, and TA, shelley, teach the class. it's 3 hours once a week. i went to class each time and i don't think i really needed to, but it does help that they throw out examples and test hints during lecture. shelley is a better lecturer because she goes faster, but sometimes gets off track and debora is a very very slow lecturer. debora and shelley are very nice and approachable. there are 2 observation exams (15% each), a midterm and final (25% each), an observation paper (20%) and an extra credit paper that can add as much as 3 points to your FINAL grade! it helps a lot to take your observation paper into one of them to review, you are guaranteed a high A (they are extremely picky on grading the papers). the tests are easy because they tell you exactly what will be on them. just make sure to study and fully understand all the theorists or concepts. this class is more or less on the psychology of why children play so there are quite a few names to know. i learned a lot and actually enjoyed it, but the lectures were long and often boring. they post the lecture slides on blackboard so that helps a lot. however, since attendance was pretty pathetic this semester, i don't know if they will be doing that. overall, a pretty good class if you can stand sitting there for 3 hours (they give you a short 15 min break for dinner) but it is an easy A, just study a little and you will be fine!
