This professor was pretty cool. It's hard to stay awake in the lectures. Easy B, but work for the A. No hw, only lab.

This professor was AWESOME. he showed so much interest in his students. Field trips, brown bag lunches, after class discussions, and surveys. Everything was perfectly reasonable in the class. If you read all of the assigned chapters(about 1 or 2 hrs a week), you will definitely get an A. Before every test, he summarizes every lecture and reading in a small packet and you can just read over this a bunch of times and take the tests. It depends on your lab instructor too. Some were ridiculously hard and some were very easy.

I took Dr. Long Fall 2002 for intro geology. It's by no means an easy A, but it's a pretty cool class if you put in the work-I learned a lot (& made an A). We had 2 quizzes, a midterm and a final. That comprises 2/3 of your grade- the rest comes from your 2 hour lab (once a week). The lab is a lot of work- was probably the worst part of the class- but you do get to do hands on stuff, so it's not a total bore. And the TAs are usually cool. Sometimes you go on field trips to look at rocks and rock structures and stuff. The tests are all multiple choice. You don't really have to read the book except for the lab HW assignments, which isn't much. But the crappy thing is that you can't sell the book back b/c you write on some of the pages, then rip them out and turn them in for your HW. Dr. Long is an energetic, enthusiastic prof who is eager to teach. The class is also taught by Dr. Stern- her lectures were very boring. But overall, I enjoyed this class, and would recommend it to anyone who is willing to put in the work.

This is my favorite professor, hands down. His lectures are interesting and he's a hilarious guy. He's extremely easy to talk to as well. He loves interacting with students and I felt comfortable going to him with anything. This was a great class, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go on the optional day long field trip. It's an awesome experience. Outstanding professor.

Dr Long is hilarious! Lectures are straightforward, tests are multiple choice and he's got personality. He also has a few in-lab field trips & one optional one on a Saturday. The best part of the class was definitely his jokes & wacky explanations.
