You can't go wrong taking absolutely anything Professor Long teaches. I especially recommend his summer classes, which are smaller and more relaxed. He has an astounding breadth of knowledge, and can answer pretty much any question you put to him related to the history of architecture. He is very fair in grading and seems to really care about the progress of his students.

Dr. Long is one of the best lecturers I've had in my 3 years at UT. The big drawback to this is that it's tempting to forget to take notes while you listen to him talk. During the course of the semster there are 2 tests, 2 papers, and a final, all are very straightforward and not that hard if you've been keeping up with lecture and the reading. Go to lecture, pay attention, and enjoy.

I am finishing my fourth year in college and I can honestly say that Dr. Long is my favorite professor yet! Even if you have no interest in architecture, I strongly urge you to take this course. The interest will come and you will love it.
