Jazz Appreciation was an awesome class, even if you have no prior interest in it or no musical experience. Fremgen tested only on information he gives in lectures. One midterm, one final, four quizzes, two concert reports, and one research paper, which wasn't too bad. Never had any homework, VERY easy class, I didn't bother buying the textbook, but you do need the CD for the quizzes. You do have to go to class though, he takes attendance randomly and it will count against you if you miss too many classes. His lectures are interested, and he brings in musicians to play sometimes. I'd highly recommend taking him. Easy A.

Jazz Appreciation isn't a difficult class at all. It's pretty straight forward, and everything you need to know for the tests comes from the lecture. The lectures can be pretty interesting, and somehow Fremgen has a lot of connections to people on the Jazz world, and always has funny stories to tell about different musicians. Pretty easy way to get a fine arts credit out of the way.
