Student reviews of Michael Ferguson
Review from a student who took FS 301
RTF 305 is, by far, the most disappointing course I?ve taken at UT. The lectures are boring for the most part and starting at 9 in the morning, it?s hard to get motivated to get out of bed. What makes the situation worse is that attendance is taken on a sporadic basis, so no one really knows if they?ll be counted off for missing a lecture. Discussion sessions are mandatory, and there?s a quiz every week. I?d say a third of the TA?s don?t speak English, which makes discussion frustrating. I?m not sure if this is a reflection of Professor Straubhaar?s teaching skills, but the class definitely was not worthwhile to take unless you have to for an RTF degree. Don?t take it unless you have to or you enjoy being crammed into an auditorium with 500 people at 9 in the morning.
