Nice and understanding guy. You get a couple absences before he actually takes off points for missing lectures. Assignments require reasonable effort, but this whole class just seems a bit pointless regardless of who you take it with.

Even though he is not an engineering major, Fagelson teaches engineering writing (EE333T). This can be both a good and bad thing. The good part is, he will not understand any kind of technical details you will be discussing--making it easy to get by with poor information, or lack thereof. This is good for students who have not taken many technical electives. The bad part is, since he isn't an engineering major... he can actually knows grammar, spelling, form, etc. Student engineers will find his grading much harder than the other EE333T professors, who are engineers themselves. Also, his lectures were VERY VERY BORING. Some of the material is so obvious--anyone with common sense knows it already. The worst part is, he takes attendance so you have to go to class or you'll lose some points. However, ultimately I feel that his grading was very fair and helped me in the long run. Whatever points I lost for mistakes were justified, and I don't see any compelling reason to complain about it. So take Fagelson if you want to learn something about how to write; take another professor if you want an easy A.

Dr. Fagelson is VERY much an English professor more than engineering. Think of his grading scheme like this, if you spend 2 hours on a paper that would take an average of 6 hrs to write, expect to get an 85%, if you spend 15 hrs to write that same paper, expect to get a 91%. Its really hard to get out of the 85-91% range for a majority of the assignments. So, you'll probably be wondering if you'll get a B or just barely pull off an A the entire semester. But, he's very lenient in your oral reports which are worth around %25 of your grade, and the midterm is very VERY easy(worth 10%) of your grade, so even if you "screw up" a few times with 85%s, then don't worry too much, just do well on the midterm, the oral reports, and the final report, and you'll get an A. He's very nice and helpful, although its a bit hard not to get offended when your paper has red corrections all over it. But try to take them as suggestions rather than criticisms. Overall, he's a very good guy, and the class seemed as if everyone would either get an A or a B, and I ended up getting an A with average effort.
