Review from a student who took GEO 428
This is one of the most difficult courses in the Geosciences that is common to most majors. He grades hard and he goes through a ton of material. There is also not a good textbook to go along with the course so all the material comes from lecture. He's very available to students outside of class and is more than happy to answer questions. He can be a bit long winded so make sure you have the time to talk. Don't skip classes. He will get really upset about that and probably hold it against you. I really appreciate his enthusiasm for the subject. It tends to rub off on students. I enjoyed the class despite doing badly in it. (I got a C.) The labs are taught by TAs. Their teaching ability and grading standards are highly variable. Talk to other students who have taken the course to figure out which are the best to try and get into the better labs. The TAs change year to year.
