Jerome Bump is a curmudgeon. There I have said it. You are to be indoctrinated into environmentalism, when attending his classes, especially his honors courses. If you can stomach getting it hammered home perpetually how there must be abortion on demand, population control, and that the true dogma is that Christianity has caused all of our problems, then this guy is for you! Practicing Roman Catholics should beware of revealing their persuasion, as Bump, being an ex-Catholic, quite literally hates the Roman Catholic Church. Don't let anyone fool you, professors, even those who are liberal in their politics, are vindictive towards anyone not sharing their opinions. Be careful what you say. And what you do in any class. You are being constantly evaluated. And it is not wise to argue with them, as your grade WILL be affected.

Review from a student who took E 603B
I was in E 603A/B, and he was a life-changing person. Rather than actually teaching English and world literature, we expanded our emotional intelligence using texts to supplement our own discoveries. Yes, he is pretty liberal. But I was not in agreement with him at multiple times throughout the course, and he appreciated when I voiced dissent, as long as I had data to back it up. The course was incredibly successful at expanding everyone's empathy, and we are still a tight-knit group of students. Everyone should have to take a course in emotional intelligence like this.
