Dr. Bryant?s style of teaching and grading can be best characterized by ?tough love.? The workload in his class is very light. There?s only one homework per week. The test/quiz are a lot easier than the homework, so if you did the homework, you?ll be fine on the test/quiz. The material in the class is all new, but it?s not as bad as it appears. If you don?t understand how to construct bond graphs; don?t worry, I don?t think anyone truly knows how to do it exactly. It?s pretty arbitrary on what you put on them. The grading of bond graph construction is very lenient; just make sure you know how to assign causalities and exact state equations. The project appears to be an insurmountable task initially, but again is not as bad as it looks because the grading is so lenient. Again, I don?t think anyone truly understand the project, we more or less ?winged it.? I got 50/50 on both of the projects and I had no idea what was going on. Dr. Bryant lecture is bland as best, but he posts the notes on the web so you really don?t have to go to class. But he?s helpful in office hours. He will even explain stuff that you didn?t ask. The key to success in this class is to do your homework yourself (as in don?t look at the solutions), don?t get too stressed out on things, and most importantly just write something down on the quiz/test. If you do that, you will have an enjoyable semester.
