Student reviews of Susan Boettcher
Review from a student who took HIS 343
Dr. Boettcher is among the best Professors at UT. Her teaching style is refreshing, a welcomed break from the often monotoned and sleep-inducing lectures of other professors. She utilizes many class discussions to get your thoughts on issues, and uses powerpoint as well, making note taken less of a burden. Chris Hill, her TA is wonderful, and the best I have had thus far. The only vice I have was the reading load...excessive is the only word I can use to describe the readings for the first third of the course, after that, the amount decreases, but is still above average. I would highly recommend Dr. Boettcher, she really knows her stuff and is very passionate about what she does.

Review from a student who took HIS 309L
Dr Boettcher is a very interesting professor. I never got bored in her class, but the course material is somewhat difficult. She gives preplanned quizzes and drops the lowest grade. As long as you do the reading before the quiz, you should do fine. Tests are graded by her TA, so it depends. The test is comprised of 5 IDs where you choose 3 and 3 essays (given out in advance) where you choose 2. Good class and good professor!
