Student reviews of Chihyang Liu
Review from a student who took CHI 506
Chinese 506 is a heavy workload regardless of whichever professor you decide to take. Mainly b/c it's very strictly outlined by a syllabus from Professor Mary Ho (you'll know what I'm talking about if you do take the course). You're going to know what you're going to do from Day 1 til the last day of class by looking at the syllabus. There were tests on the Monday of every week. Homework was due every week. And there were at least 2 or 3 quizzes per week. Not that they're all very hard, but they can be time consuming to study for. Professor Liu is funny though, and looks just like a student. You will enjoy his class and corny jokes. Depending on your TA, you should get graded fairly easily. And you're allowed to drop a ton of grades, from tests to quizzes, to oral quizzes. Attendance is important though, both in lecture and discussion hours. They'll take roll everyday. But overall it's very lenient. Oh yeah, you'll have a skit show to write, memorize, and perform at the end of the year. It's a major grade and counts toward the final. Don't fret, we had a ton of fun with it.
