Review from a student who took BIO 361T
Dr. Larimer is a really nice guy. With that said, his lectures are quite dull - at the beginning of the semester, I found myself falling asleep for a good portion of the class. After bombing the first exam I made a drastic change - I went to discussion sections which helped IMMENSELY, and actually forced myself to take notes and pay attention (regardless how boring) and it helped. My grades steadily progressed throughout the semester and I ended up with an "A" in the class. The TA for the class will get you very far. Attending the discussion sections is almost better than attending class but I would still recommend going to class because that is where all the graphs and diagrams are gone over. Work load not too bad - overall...recommended.

If you don't make it to class at least go to discussion and read the lecture notes (he posts them online). Larimer is kind of hard to understand and hear sometimes, but the TA does a lot of teaching in discussion and also helps make/grades the tests.

His lectures consist of putting up slides on the overhead projector and talking about them. His voice is very monotone and he lacks any real charisma when teaching the class so I noticed alot of people falling asleep. That said his class is not all that hard. If you go to the TA sessions consistently and go to all the review sessions than you should end up with at least a B if not an A. Attending his lectures and taking notes won't do much for you however. Overall pretty boring class but not that difficult.
