Student reviews of Jonathan Brown
Review from a student who took HIS346L
Brown is really good. His lectures are like story time in elementary school... they keep you interested big time. Maybe I'm a sucker for Latin American history, but this class was really interesting to me, and I think it was mostly because of him. He has this really witty, dry sense of humor that is perfect for a morning class... He'll go off on tangents, but they're interesting. He made my 9:30am class much less of a chore. Anyway, enough kissing his ass, my only problem w/ the class is the TA (or maybe Brown? But the TA's writing is on them...) grades the exams w/o mercy. For my class we had one midterm, a 5 pg essay, and the final. That's all the grades you get so they all need to count. The paper was fine, but I thought the grading on the one hour exams was a little harsh. Maybe I'm just bitching... who knows. The point is... Take Brown, I guess it's a roll of the dice for the TA.
